NEW MATERIAL WITH A SPECIAL CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
In order to avoid the premature degradation and failure of standard EPDM compounds when exposed to chloramine treated water, LAV.EL. Gomma developed a new material with a special chemical resistance.
The new 01/W70EP is already NSF 61 and ASNZS 4020 certified for potable water applications and complies with all drinking water regulations.
The standard ASTM D 6284-09 was performed on the new compound 01/W70EP.
“Standard test method for rubber property-effect of Acqueous solution with available Chlorine and Chloramine”.
After 8 weeks of immersion in the test liquid the EPDM o-rings had no significant changes of hardness, volume and mass.
Based on these test results the new EPDM will provide significantly longer lifetime compared to all other tested materials. This can reduce potential warranty claims, when used as seals in plumbing plants and potable water equipments.
